One of the many open meadows along the divide trail. |

DSCN0721.jpgA pretty spot along the creek flowing into Long Lake right near a crossing. |
Long Lake from the northern side, with a smaller unnamed lake right next to it in the foreground. |
Long Lake from the dam. Long Lake was built to help supply water to Steamboat, but the level isn't changed any more because Fish Creek Reservoir (on the north fork of Fish Creek) now has that job. |
Descending the trail down to Fish Creek Falls there were some pretty open areas that were very rocky near the top, like a lot of areas up Buffalo Pass. |
Another nice meadow along Fish Creek |
Fish Creek going through some of the meadows. There were trout I could see when I got there, but they all hid when they saw my shadow before I could take a picture. |
A big rock hidden in the aspens. |
Getting further down the drainage the canyon started to appear some, I thought this rocky hillside was pretty. |
This is one of my favorite spots along the trail, the rocks on the left extend quite a way out, and are all very smooth from all the water flowing over them in the spring, the creek is also very pretty, but it was hard to get a good picture of it since the light was so bright, and the shadows were so dark. |
Another picture of the same spot. |
A pretty little waterfall further down the trail. |
Another small waterfall visible from the trail, still above the second falls. |
In this spot the creek falls into a really narrow little crack, it's almost like a little cave, it must look pretty different in the spring when I'll bet the whole things full of water. |
The second falls, a lot mellower than the real Fish Creek Falls, but still very pretty. |
The sun was setting as I tried to race it down, here are some pines across the canyon getting some pretty evening light. |
One last picture after I crossed the second bridge (so this is now looking north), of some aspens catching the last of the light before I had to really concentrate on getting down before dark. |
